ABOUT US

Discover the origin and rise of the Philippines’ pioneering memorial home that has handled the memorial service of many of the country’s presidents and luminaries.

The story of Nacional began when Feliciano Quiogue started Funeraria Salazar over a hundred years ago at Calle Salazar near Binondo. Back then, Funeraria Salazar offered lavish funeral services for Php85, including a hearse with four horses, attendants, and a metallic coffin. Feliciano’s son, Vicente Quiogue, eventually left the family business and opened Funeraria Nacional on Rizal Avenue beside the Manila Grand Opera House.

RICH IN HISTORY AND HERITAGE

In 1968, Nacional moved to Araneta Avenue, Quezon City, and in the 1970s, the business name had been changed to Nacional Memorial Homes. Today it goes by the official name Nacional Chapels and Crematory. Nacional is the only memorial home that carries a unique history and heritage of having served several Philippine presidents including Manuel Quezon, Ramon Magsaysay, and Diosdado Macapagal. It also had the first Cadillac hearse in the Philippines, purchased especially for Quezon, and was the first to have private chapels.

The country’s groundbreaking memorial home just got better by undergoing a major makeover, beautifully combining modern style and amenities with its traditional values of reliable service and care.
